Bill Porter is a Member of EmergeLaw based in the firm's Orlando and Santa Rosa Beach, Florida offices. For 25 years, Bill's practice has focused on bankruptcy, creditors’ rights, and commercial litigation in the Middle and Northern Districts of Florida. He represents debtors, lenders, creditors, and lessors in out-of-court disputes and in bankruptcy court in Chapter 11 reorganizations and Chapter 7 liquidations. He is particularly skilled at representing small businesses in Subchapter V restructurings.

Bill also regularly represents creditors in state and federal court in suits to recover monies owed, real estate and personal property foreclosures and replevin, and attachment and injunction actions. He is also experienced in receiverships,  assignments for the benefit of creditors, defense of lender liability claims, residential mortgage foreclosures, timeshare foreclosures, deeds-in-lieu of foreclosure and friendly foreclosures.

Bill practiced in a variety of high profile settings before joining EmergeLaw, including more than 11 years with the Orlando office of Lowndes, Drosdick, Doster, Kantor & Reed, P.A. From 2003 to 2007 he served as a Trial Attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice's U.S. Trustee Program, overseeing bankruptcy cases filed in Orlando and Jacksonville.

Bill earned his law degree (with high honors) from Florida State University in 1997 and his undergraduate degree also from FSU in 1992. He has earned an "AV" Preeminent (highest) rating from Martindale-Hubbell®, and is perennially named a "Legal Elite" by Florida Trend Magazine, including for 2022.
